From Daily IPTV Updates, Power by Cogni360

IPTV & Video On Demand Industry & Market News.- Trade associations USTA and NCTA, representing U.S. telcos and cablecos, respectively, are planning to bring their video-franchising battle to the public via print and TV ads, with part of the message being whether the U.S. Congress should change laws to bypass local franchise authorities with state or federal programs. USTA's ad series, called TV Freedom, will send out a clear message that the nation's telcos are ready to provide video to homes "as soon as Congress updates our telecom laws." While the NCTA's media message, Cable: A Great American Success Story, claims the cable industry has "played by the rules" and questions telcos' attempts to end local cable franchising and replace it with statewide franchises to enter the video business at a quick pace.
