IPTV & Video On Demand Industry & Market News.- Producers from Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. at the recent Berlin Film Festival agree that the future of IPTV is about new "disruptive" business models dealing with telcos and various content aggregators. A majority of new entrants still do not understand "the way content happens," and the importance of "windowing" for the film and TV value chain. Ovum's Aleksandra Bosnjak found that emerging independent filmmakers will accept IPTV as a new content delivery method for financing, as they are more concerned with getting their story across and reaching wide audiences beyond domestic markets than worrying about distribution issues. However, seasoned producers and buyers derive a bulk of their revenues from DVD rentals and sales, rather than box office, and view IPTV as a pure DRM issue.
