IPTV & Video On Demand Industry & Market News.- China Telecom has contracted UTStarcom to deploy its end-to-end IPTV solution, RollingStream, in Fuzhou and Quanzhou cities of Fujian Province in southern China. UTStarcom finds this an exciting opportunity as less than 5 percent of the population in each city currently has access to broadband services. The operator is targeting 50,000 and 80,000 users in Fuzhou and Quanzhou by the end of 2006. Meanwhile, the operator is also upgrading its ADSL network for the nationwide promotion of IPTV services this year.
